The Team takes a look into the lives of the Detroit Tigers baseball players. My favorite episode can be found here . The (new) Team follows our hero, Curtis Granderson, as he adjusts to life as a New York Yankee. The previous episode can be found here. This is the newest installment. Warning, strong language and stupidity follows. [In the visiting clubhouse at Fenway Park, three hours after the Yankees’ 6-4 victory over the Red Sox.] CURTIS GRANDERSON: Boy, Marcus, ...
An 0-162 record? As if. The Yankees rebounded quickly with a win in game No. 2 of the season, defeating the Red Sox 6-4.
After the Yanks went down quietly 1-2-3 in the top of the first, the Red Sox and Jacoby Ellsbury immediately jumped on AJ Burnett in his season debut. Ellsbury led off with a single, and proceeded to steal second, and a Jorge Posada throwing error (one of THREE Yankee errors on the night), allowed him to take third. Kevin Youkilis drove him in on a sac fly. ...
A critical error by Boston shortstop Marco Scutaro helped to break a 4-4 tie as New York earned a 6-4 win over Boston Tuesday night at Fenway Park. Alfredo Aceves (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win. Mariano Rivera allowed a double in the ninth, but earned his first save of the season.
With runners at first and second and two outs in the top of the eighth inning, Derek Jeter appeared to groundout to end the inning. However, first baseman Kevin Youkilis was unable to ...
With the 2010 season just getting under way for the Yankees, there are already rumblings that the team is trying to add on more players.
On Sunday, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported that the Yankees were possibly looking to add outfield help to what they already have.
Rosenthal reports this because of the Yankees' questionable depth in 2010. Curtis Granderson is a lock in center field and Nick Swisher is a lock in right field. But, if by any chance if they get injured, that hurts their depth and their batting order.
Brett ...
Joba Chamberlain didn’t have a particularly good night Sunday night. He allowed two hits, a walk, and a run in 1.1 innings.
He certainly didn’t implode, but he was far from dominant.
His fastball, as far as I could tell, never really got above 93 (assuming the YES gun was somewhat accurate), and control of his breaking pitches seemed to come and go.
Now, to be honest, this isn’t really a huge deal. Chamberlain is still a very young pitcher, and it’s still early in the season. It’s hard to expect Joba to ...
Last week we got a look at both the Scranton Yankees and the Trenton Thunder roster, well moving on down the line we get the 2010 Charleston RiverDogs roster today.
It’s not technically official yet, but Robert Pimpsner of Baseball Digest passed along this roster out of the RiverDogs media guide:
PITCHERS RHP Griffin Bailey RHP Manuel Barreda RHP Sean Black LHP Gavin Brooks RHP Caleb Cotham RHP Ryan Flannery LHP Shaeffer Hall RHP Dickson Marquez RHP Ronny Marte RHP Kelvin Perez RHP Jose Ramirez RHP Wilton Rodriguez LHP ...
Yankees fifth starter did not make the trip to Boston for Opening Day. Instead, Hughes stayed behind to get some additional work before his first start of the season on April 15th in New York against the often tough-to-beat Angels.
In an extended spring simulated start, Hughes pitched the equivalent of 8 1/3 innings and allowed three hits. He also struck out 12.
According to the AP, Hughes was “very happy” with his control and felt good about the outing. Seventy of Hughes’ 100 pitches went for strikes.
Now, we all know this ...
The Yankees' season officially kicked off Sunday night as they lost to the Boston Red Sox, 9-7, and the minor league affiliates are set to get going next.
Here is the Double-A Trenton Thunder roster via Mike Ashmore:

If I were a maniacal WFAN caller, I'd probably be floating in the East River by now.
Luckily, I'm not Vinny from Bay Ridge, so the Yankees coughing up roughly 12,000 leads in their 9-7 loss to the Red Sox on opening night won't drive me to despair.
In honor of Jonathan Papelbon's SAT score, here are 20 observations on what was a lonnnnnng night at Fenway Park:
1. Our new friend Chan Ho is going to be "park"-ing cars at the Stadium by May if this keeps up. Yes, Dustin Pedroia's game-tying ...
The Yankees began the season last night in Boston against the Red Sox. The site at Fenway was enough to make any Yankees fan sick and no I am not talking about the game itself.
The festivities were enough. From our little boy Pedro Martinez throwing out the first pitch, to trader Ronan Tynan singing God Bless America, to Neil Diamond singing Sweet Caroline, it was a little much for someone with a weak stomach. Anyway, my plan for the season is to give a quick "Good, Bad, Ugly" recap ...
