Yankees Prospect Jeremy Bleich Headed for Shoulder Sugery

According to Tim Bontemps of the NY Post, one of the Yankees top left-handed pitching prospects, Jeremy Bleich, has been put on the DL with a shoulder injury that could require surgery to fix. Here is more from the Post: "Mark Newman, the Yankees’ senior vice president of baseball operations, was downcast when asked about the issues with Bleich’s shoulder yesterday. "'I don’t know,' he said when asked about Bleich’s return. 'We’re (still) getting some information back from the doctors…he had more tests (yesterday).'"   This is pretty rough news for ...

Injury Bug Reaches Minors: Jeremy Bleich Headed For Surgery

According to Tim Bontemps (hat-tip to RAB ), Trenton lefty Jeremy Bleich appears to be headed for shoulder surgery. Bleich has been meeting with doctors this week, and surgery seems like the most likely outcome. Mark Newman, the Yankees ' senior vice president of baseball operations, was downcast when asked about the issues with Bleich's shoulder yesterday. "I don't know," he said when asked about Bleich's return. "We're (still) getting some information back from the doctors ... he had more tests (yesterday)." Tough break for the 22-year-old. This season the Yankees 2008 first-round ...

Yank’s Curtis Granderson Heads to Scranton For Rehab Assignment

I briefly mentioned this in last night's game thread but here's some more info on Granderson's return via Pete Caldera : Curtis Granderson is targeting Friday at Yankee Stadium for his return to Joe Girardi's lineup. "That's what I'm hoping for," said Granderson, after taking batting practice with the Yankees at Citi Field. Sidelined since May 2 because of a left groin strain, Granderson was headed to Louisville on Friday night to join Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on a week-long rehab assignment. "Hopefully, we'll get him sometime at the end of ...

A Mets Fan To New York Yankees: Please Sweep Us!

For the first time in the history of the Subway Series I think to myself "Could the New York Yankees please put us out of our misery and sweep us?" A sweep by the Yankees would go a long way towards putting the final nail in the coffin of the Omar Minaya era. Jerry Manuel can stay. Will the Yankees help us? Can the Yankees actually hurt us by losing these games and leaving Omar’s job intact for the time being? That being said, the Yankees have already won this series ...

Javy Vasquez Sharp Over Six One-Hit Innings as Yanks Take Opener

It wasn't the way I thought the game would go with Javier Vazquez going up against a guy who was making his first big league start, but this one was a pitcher's duel from the start. Vazquez was impressive again, as the Yankees took game one of the Subway Series beating the Mets 2-1. In six innings Vazquez held the Mets to just one hit and a couple walks, while striking out six. At just 69 pitches (45 strikes) through six he might have been able to ...

2010 MLB All-Star Game: Could the Entire Yankee’ Infield Be All-Stars This Year?

It usually isn't a surprise to see the left side of the Yankee infield in the All-Star game; Derek Jeter has 10 All-Star games under his belt and Alex Rodriguez has 12. But this year's All-Star Game in Anaheim, California could see Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano accompanying A-Rod and Jeter. Cano is probably having the best year of the lot, batting .338 with nine home runs and 28 RBI heading into tonight's game. So his numbers should speak for themselves, and I believe he will be a starter. A-Rod isn't having an ...

The New York Yankees Just Can’t Catch a Break

The New York Yankees are 25-16 and playing like the team they were at the end of last year. But there is just one problem they can’t seem to stay healthy at all this year. The Mets were the team plagued by injuries last year, but now it seems that the Yankees have taken that roll this season. Whether it is the age factor that is keeping Jorge Posada out of the lineup, Mariano Rivera at times during the season, and Andy Pettitte; you inevitably have the “core four” you had the “sore ...

2010 Subway Series Preview: Version One

Interleague play gets underway today in Major League Baseball. The New York Mets and New York Yankees get together for the first of two series this season. The Subway Series may have lost some of its luster the past couple seasons, but both teams have a lot riding on this series.  Starting tonight, the teams will play a three game series at Citi Field. The Mets, 20-22 overall, have been struggling and have won just three of their past ten games but are 14-8 at home this season. The ...

Subway Series Still Does It For Me

A lot of people feel that the series between the cross-town rivals New York Mets and New York Yankees has lost some of its luster over the years. After all, the Mets and the Yankees play each other six times during the regular season and have played a World Series against each other back in 2000. Yet there is still something extra special when the Yankees and Mets take the field against each other. It’s about bragging rights. It’s about your buddy at work who you have talked ...

Subway Series Preview: Yankees, Mets Try To Get Back on Track

Coming off three straight losses to division rivals, the Yankees must regain their focus for the circus that is the Subway Series. The Bombers conclude a stretch of 17 games in as many days with three against the Mets at Citi Field in Queens. New York's National League team got off to a hot start, winning eight in a row to climb into first place and finish April at 14-9, but when the calendar flipped to May, the Mets' began to go downhill. They're now in last place in the NL East at ...
