The Yanks enter the 2010 All-Star break with the best record in baseball and are on pace for 103 victories. But the big news in Yankeeland this past week was the non-trade for Cliff Lee. Since that deal fell through, ESPN Insider is reporting that a Yanks deal for Cubs starting pitcher Ted Lilly “has legs.” What I don’t understand is the Yanks’ sudden obsession with starting pitching. Yes, yes, there are those old pitching adages:
Pitching wins championships. You can never have enough pitching. ...

Instead, players like Robinson Cano, Phil Hughes, Andy Pettitte, and Nick Swisher were keeping the Yankees in control of their division. Within the past month however, Teixeira and Sabathia have found their groove and the Yankees are loving it.
Teixeira has reached base safely in the past 30 games, has driven in 60 runs, ...
It is a misnomer to say that the season is half over at the All-Star break, with the Angels having played 91 games and having only 71 games left when they return after the midsummer classic. That being said, it is time to look at the current division leaders and the teams that are still contending in those divisions.
AL East

The '90s were an interesting time for baseball. We saw the first Canadian world champion and a strike that devastated the game.
We saw the reemergence of the Evil Empire and one of the classiest men in baseball break the consecutive games started streak, and we saw a home run chase that made baseball America's pastime once again.
This was all fueled by the players themselves. I made this list based on many factors including stats, accolades, impact on the game, and my own opinion, among other things.
