New York Yankees: With Joba Headed for Likely Surgery, Could Hughes Be Answer?

today, news has broke that Joba Chamberlain has a torn ligament in his elbow. This will likely need surgery to be corrected, which could mean that Chamberlain could not toe the rubber for the rest of the year.

On the bright side, Phil Hughes has been slated to make his first rehab assignment since going on the DL with a dead arm and has shown life in his fastball again reaching between 90 and 92 MPH.

We all know Hughes is more than capable of handling a roll in the bullpen and moving him to there to fill in for Joba seems like the perfect fit. This would help him continue to grow stronger being only utilized in short inning situations, where he seemed to be more than capable in 2009.
