Mariano Rivera Injury: Knee Surgery Set for June 12

Rivera's blood clot has finally subsided, so it's time for him to go under the knife.

New York Yankees beat writer Bryan Hoch tweets:

Mariano Rivera has set June 12 as the date for his surgery. Says the blood clot cleared up last week.

This is obviously a good sign for Rivera. He can now take the first step in a long journey back from a torn right ACL.

Although the injury occurred over a month ago, the blood clot delayed his surgery until it passed last week.

Rivera has made it known that he intends on making a comeback from this injury, but it certainly won't be easy at the age of 42 (43 when he returns).
