Here's a few things you need to know about the deal that sent New York Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez to the Milwaukee Brewers.
1) The Mets made this deal for one reason and one reason only: To avoid the vesting of K-Rod's $17.5 million option for 2012.
2) According to at least one report, the Mets did not receive much of anything in the way of talent coming back from the Brewers.
3) According to multiple reports, the Mets kicked in "about $5 million" in cash to the Brewers, covering the remainder of K-Rod's salary for the 2011 season. All the Brewers, who will almost certainly use K-Rod as a setup man, will have to pay is the $3.5 million buyout of the 2012 option.
