least one New York Yankees executive had high praise for 24-year-old catcher Austin Romine—enough to think that the prospect may be the odds-on favorite for the everyday catching job heading into spring training.
Vice president of baseball operations, Mark Newman, told Chad Jennings of the LoHud Yankees Blog on Wednesday that Romine is already an outstanding defender behind the pl#mce_temp_url#ate.
“He’s a plus, plus defender,” Newman said. “He can really play the position.”
