Mariano Rivera went down on Thursday night in Kansas City with what seemed to be a career-ending injury, the Yankee community went into a state of shock.
With the greatest closer of all time on the shelf for the remainder of the season, the Yankees were getting ready to move abruptly into the post-Rivera era.
Now it seems as if the Yankees will have to make yet another change of plans.
It's time to rejoice, Yankee fans, as Mariano Rivera told reporters on Friday: "I'm coming back. Write it down in big letters. I'm not going out like this" (via MLB twitter).
Rivera will likely be out all of this season, so David Robertson will assume the closer's role in his absence.
