Yankees’ Derek Jeter Moves into 1st Place on Franchise’s All-Time Doubles List

a two-bagger in the ninth inning of Sunday's 2-1 win over the Texas Rangers, Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees passed Lou Gehrig to take sole possession of the all-time franchise record for doubles, per MLB Stat of the Day.

Jeter recorded the milestone hit against Rangers reliever Neal Cotts with one out in the ninth inning of a scoreless game. Following an intentional walk of Yankees outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, Cotts got out of the jam by coaxing designated hitter Carlos Beltran to hit into a double play.

The Yankees would later win 2-1 in 14 innings thanks to a walk-off RBI single from third baseman Chase Headley, who was acquired from the San Diego Padres earlier in the day.
